PROJECT FINALISED!

Completed in 2024, the PSS project marks the culmination of four years of in-depth exploration into Product-Service System (PSS) models across the Nordic region. Led by Norion, the initiative delivered 15 successful pilot projects in close collaboration with Nordic companies—building a robust foundation of knowledge and insights in the PSS field.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

With the new vision for 2030, the Nordic Council of Ministers ambitions for the Nordic region are to be the most sustainable region in the world, which necessitates a boost in circular initiatives. The shift from a linear to a circular economy has proved to be a complex and time-consuming challenge, where cooperation and common solutions between stakeholders are necessary.

Therefore, the transition to a circular and bio-based economy as well as an increase in sustainable, resource efficient and competitive production in the Nordic countries, will be put under scrutiny in the Nordic Council of Mininsters’ project on Product Service Systems (PSS).

WHAT ARE PRODUCT SERVICE SYSTEMS?

With Product Service Systems (PSS) the ownership of products remains with their producers or intermediaries, ensuring that products and materials remain in efficient use throughout their life cycle. In models of product service systems, the producers do not sell the product, but the service the product is intended to offer. Such business models may presuppose producers or intermediaries to hold the legal responsibility of their products, even after their end-of-life.
